Mission
North Park is a small neighborhood on Chicago’s far North Side with a proud history, an active community, and a deep diversity of ethnicities, incomes, and ages. We think it’s truly a special place.
The vision of the NPCM is to create a focal point for the North Park neighborhood — a way to bring people together and give neighbors more opportunities to meet each other and break bread.
The North Park Community Market brings fresh food from local farms, prepared foods (to enjoy at our communal picnic tables), a dynamic line-up of musical entertainment, creative activities for children, and a venue to highlight artisans, local businesses and non-profits.
Commitment
We understand in order for us to fulfill the mission of the market as an event that “bring[s] people together and give[s] neighbors more opportunities to meet each other and break bread,” we must take a clear stand against systems of oppression, namely those that particularly imperil the lives of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC). We also recognize racial, food, and social justice work is ongoing, not momentary, and we commit to continuous analysis of our own systems in order to shift actions to better work toward a truly inclusive Market. If you are interested in joining us, or in sharing your thoughts or feedback, please let us know.
Thank you to the Hollywood North Park Community Association, our parent organization who has supported us since our first market season in 2017!
